Are there any Vegetarian football players or bodybuilders?

I keep hearing about how Vegetarians get enough protein but I have yet to see a single GOOD vegetarian football player or body builder.

Do you know any professionals or ones in your highschool?

Not trying to make fun of vegetarians but then again I never seen a muscular vegetarian (not skinny muscular but wrestler muscular) unless they were beefy before they became vegetarian.

Bodybuilders: Andreas Cahling. Bodybuilders always freak me out, though, by how they look!

The only vegetarian football player that I know of is Desmond Howard. And there's also Tony Gonzalez, but he switched only recently and then switched back after a few weeks.

btw, if you wanna get beefy as a vegetarian you'll need to consume more calories and fat, which vegetarian diets typically are not high in.
There was a Mr. Universe back in the 60's that was vegetarian. I can't recall his name....

There are quite a few Olympic medal winners, multiple Mr. Universe winners, and other athletes that are vegetarian or vegan. Meat and dairy products can often hinder sports performance and lead to health problems that eventually take athletes out of the game. I know the book "Skinny B*tch" names a bunch of Olympic athletes and Mr. Universe winners that were on veg diets - proof positive that it can be done!

My question is this: Shouldn't pro football change the rule regarding downing a football near the endzone?

I mean, if the ball has to cross the imaginary line of the goal for a touchdown, shouldn't the BALL have to do the same when players try to down the ball. In college, a player can down the football inside the one, even if his body ends up in the endzone, as long as the ball never entered the endzone.....

In the NFL the ball must touch the ground in the endzone for a touchback. Thecollegemust just cross the goal line to be a touchback. It would just add more questionable judgement calls and replays.

Get yourself into a weightroom, and work as hard as you can. Once you get stronger, then you can work on your speed and agility with ladders and plyos and so on. Also practice your position every other day or something, if you get the technique down, your set.

if you are young you can build your body into football shape by playing football and running but if you are in high school or older it is harder because your body will not be use to it.
work everypart of your body.. focusing mainly on exercises to work your entire body.. i.e power cleans, hang cleans, squats, deadlifts, bench press, military press, bent over rows. Also do bridges for your neck, since i put a couple inches on my neck im starting to look like a real (pro) football player.. But i got a few more years to build up too that level.
Watch one of their training films and do what they do every morning afternoon and evening for the rest of your life.

Well first you need tyo get a weight lifting program. Start with basics like bench and squat. Then do other workouts like hang cleans and push press. These workout techniques can be found on many websites or you can ask your coaches to teach you. Workouts like hang cleans and push press are probably the best since they are whole body workouts and create explosiveness. You will also have to run many sprints. Run 40, 60, and 100 yard sprints. If you are a lineman try 5 and 20 sprints for explosiveness. Football requires you to be strong and conditioned, but in many positions exposiveness is key
Either just get grossly fat like some of those american footballers that are just out there to use there fatness to stop people, or buy some of that pathetic looking padding that the Americans have to use so they don't hurt them selves!

Depends on what position but if you want to have a RB or WR body then your gonna have to eat and eat but eat healthy and lift heavy heavy weight. Cardio 2 to 3 times a week and in about a year or year and a half you will see big results. But you can't slack off you gotta work out hard 2 to 3 hours a day.

More specifially from High St, go West on 11th and pass the dorms on the right and JO and the ghetto on the left. Go down to Neal and take a left. It is right there on the left. Parking shouldn't be too hard because those are metered so you can park your cars there. Enjoy the food and the game.

Does Appalachian State's win over Michigan make a case for a college football playoff system?

This proves that some of the best lower tier teams can compete witht the "big boys" of Div-I football. I personally like the bowl scheduling because more teams have something to play for but this further argues the case for a playoff format to be constructed. Should a playoff system include Div-IAA schools or should it be striclty Div-1A?

All thoughts appreciated.

The year when Marshall went to Div. I. They were a top 20 team. They won the I-AA title the year before. Appalachian State has won the I-AA the last 2 years and ranked #1 so far this year. The difference isn't as big as ppl think. If ASU were Div 1 they would probably be a top 25 team. The NCAA should go to a single division playoff. Top 20 from D1 and top 12 of D1-AA. That would be 31 games. Split up between the different bowls.

I dont get why there isnt one. I mean if they are worried about loosing the money for the sponsors and stuff then they just need to do what the NCAA men's basketball does in the bracket and name each game after a bowl game. I mean come on already.

There are some concerns though. Injury, team preparedness, scouting. But I mean if a team is that good, like an LSU or a USC, then they should be ready for anything.

Division 1-AA ALREADY HAS a playoff format, just like Division 2 and 3. That is why Appalachian State's back to back Championships MEAN SOMETHING. Now if Division 1A finally does what the rest are doing and puts in a Playoff format it should be FOR DIVISION 1A. Maybe have the Division 1A Champ play the Division 1-AA Champ to crown a true Division 1 Champ at most. Yeah though we all know they should start a playoff system though.

There are many teams that could probably match up very well with the “big boys” but we’ll never know until PTB that rank the teams and set the schedules give them the opportunity to show them and us.

Yesterday’s game was not a fluke.

That game went down to the wire.

If Appalachian State was a scrub team, the score wouldn’t have been that close AND they had the lead a considerable amount ot the time..

The fact that they won it by blocking a FGA ; btw, the second of two shows that they take EVERY aspect of the game seriously.

FGs shouldn’t be an automatic 3 pts.

I think Appalachian State understands that.

Too bad many of the other lower tier teams don’t get the opportunity to show that.

Acollegefootball playoff would be nice but virtually impossible…too many teams.

However, at the beginning of the year, a lottery to include more of the lower tier teams into the schedules of ALL the conferences of the ‘big boys’ would be nice.
Yes, not only for 1-AA but for Michigan or any other team that may only lose 1 game, they should have a chance show they still are a top team in this countrey.
well yet another lower school has beaten a big time school. I think well maybe. I would really encourage a playoff system but App state doesnt even copmete for bowls like michigan does it is not a good way to get a football playoff when a lower school beats a d-1 school
The best case for a playoff was last season. Boise State deserved a chance at the title. There were at least 5 teams that could have won an 8 team tournament at the end of last season - Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Boise, Possibly Auburn or Oklahoma.
Games like that slowly strengthen the case for a playoff system. It also reminds you how important every single game is incollegefootball though. With the current bowl system, every regular season game could be considered a kind of playoff game. I still think it'd be cool to see a small 4 or 8(16 at the very most) team playoff at the end of the year. You don't want to ruin the great regular season by letting everyone into the playoffs.
