Im talking which states are the most football loving states. States that have NFL teams, College teams, and strong High School teams that are all not only good, but legendary and well known. Give reasons why you think these are the best states to represent football.
1. Texas- High School Football almost as popular as NFL andcollegeand some small towns take it as seriously as religion. UT Longhorns, 2005-06 National Champs, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans. Texas AM university.
2. Florida- Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes. Also have 3 NFL teams, and great High School programs, or so Ive heard from this kid who moved to my school from Fla.
3. Ohio- 2 NFL teams, Ohio State University. Home of NFL Hall Of Fame.
4. California- 3 NFL teams, USC, Cal Golden Bears, UCLA. You get the picture.
5. Cant think of a fifth. Sorry.

2) Pennsylvania -- look at all of the pros to have come from the hardscrabble towns there...QBs plus LB University!
3) Hard to argue with Ohio--high school andcollege(so what if their pro teams suck?)
4) Much as I hate cheaters (esp. Miami--Jerry Tarkanian should've coached basketball there, too!), Florida would be hard to argue with...
5) Wisconsin. Great kids in the HS and collegiate levels (check out the D-III Whitewaters and LaCrosse's for example) plus the Badgers are always underrated.

California - College football POWERHOUSES, Great NFL teams, former legends. High school All Americans
Florida - The cheapskate champs, Florida, who didn't deserve to be there, sept they won championships before that that they deserved, FSU, UM, Great pro ball. High School All Americans
Texas - College "powerhouses", highly over rated though. Cowboys are also over rated. High School football is a way of life.
Ohio - Have the HOF, also have the Bengals and not to mention the Buckeyes.
Louisiana - Great football colleges, The Saints are finally making a true return, high school football is amazing.
Other states - high school football is everywhere, love it. Love the lights on Friday night, which is why i play.
I agree with the 4 states you have there. The 5th one you should add is Pennsylvania. They have 2 NFL teams, Pitt, Penn State, one of the best State High School playoffs in the country, and many HOFers are from Pennsylvania. Mike Ditka, George Blanda, Tony Dorsett, Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Jack Ham, Johnny Unitas, Lenny Moore, Sam Huff, and Joe Schmidt.
youve forgotten one of if not the best state...alabama...although i cant stand the crimson tide but there numbers dont lye.and my auburn tigers are one of the top 5 winningcollegeprograms in the last 5 years.john heisman coached at auburn,vince dooley played there.troy dominated div.2 and has already made 2 bowl games,uab has made a bowl.highschool football is loved here just look at mtv and the hoover high team.and every saturday is special during the fall when 180,000 folks are at jordan-hare and bryant-denny stadiums and the other 6 million alabamians are sure to be watching on tv. they did a study and there is no room for a nfl team ascollegeand highschool dominate this state and that is real football ,no pre-madonnas

1. Texas- high school, college, and pro football have huge followings in Texas. They are undoubtedly the top state.
2. California- the high school market isn't as big as Texas but some of the nations top recruits (Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Jimmy Clausen) come out of Cali. College football is huge with USC, UCLA, and Cal (distant third). Pro football is not as big but the market is still booming. Oakland, San Diego and San Fransico keep things interesting. The divisional rivalry between OAK and SD and the battle of the bay between OAK and SF keep the Cali fires burning.
3. Ohio- the one thing that spells out football in Ohio is the Ohio State University. Woody Hayes is the man responsible for making football popular in Ohio. The NFL does help out a little with CLE and CIN but they are not as big as the Buckeyes.
4. Florida- They make the list because they have a lot ofcollegeand pro teams in state. The high school market is expanding every year but a lot of athletes come to Florida for variety. In college, you can choose between UF, FSU, Miami, UCF, USF, FIU, FAU, etc. The NFL gives you the Dolphins, the Jaguars, and the Bucs. Okay, so the NFL teams haven't lived up to expectations but they try....
5. I really can't decide between Pennsylvania and Georgia. Both states have huge football followings at all levels. In the final analysis, I would have to pick Georgia. The HS programs are very competitive. The NCAA teams (UGA and GT) seem to compete in major bowls every year. The ATL Falcons have garnered a lot of national attention in the past few years with the play of Michael Vick. Like I said, it's close but Georgia wins the day at number five...

1. California- THey have USC and many other great collage teams, as well as 3 nfl teams. They used to have four back when there was the los angelas rams.

Your top 4 is correct. Maybe a different order. I would place Pennsylvania as #5. Plenty of legendary quarterbacks have come from that region, Penn State and Pitt have both won National Championships, Steelers have 5 Super Bowl trophies.
these 5 are diehard football fans. i know from experience. its not about how many teams there are, because that is determined by population. my list is not in order of most diehard fans, but they show the most support to their football teams.

Your top four clearly belong, but I would rate them, Florida - Texas - Ohio - Cali and then New Jersey.
Paterno - back in the day when PSU was an Indie - nearly had the state almost to himself (ND would also drop in, but that program could go anywhere for players) for blue-chippers. Cooper at OSU made great strides by recruiting Eddie George and Stanley Jackson, among others, out of the state.
And - mark my words - Rutgers is going to be able to keep a lot of the top prospects home and will build a yearly powerhouse from the high schools throughout the state.
Professionally, until a NYC stadium is built, the Meadowlands is home to the Jets and Giants.

I am going in terms of best players by state.
1.) Texas- It is purely religous. Perhaps no area in the world is more totally captivated by one sport
2.) Georgia- I know they will not get much love, but I am sure if you go down the list of states w/h most NFL players, you do not go far til you get to Georgia
3.) Florida- Would put them two, put their fan passion does not stack up.
4.) Alabama- Iron Bowl? In addition to this war (I am sure during the frustrating Bear Bryant era a few Tide fans were killed in frustration in Auburn) there are also a great deal of successful programs.
5.) I dunno... Prolly California. Just cause Ohio has the nFL hall of fame does not make them a football state. Their team's are mostly imports. California has a few pretty good rivalries and some decent high schools (plus a really good one).
