Is there a reason or what are they used for, do the football players have speakers in their helmets.

So they can communicate with the people at the skybox (Offensive Coordinator, Defensive Coordinator, etc.) Also most Quaterbacks have it in their helmets where they can communicate about the play they're about to run.

That is so they can talk to the coaches that are up in the booth. Some Offensive Coordinators sit up there to see the other teams defensive formations, vice versa for Defensive Coordinators.
They talk to the QB's and other coaches on the sideline and up in the booth
they wear them so they can talk with the people in the booth and ask for assisstance if needed
communication.....duh
so they can talk to the personal up stairs. usually offense and defensive coordinators. some QB's have them in there helmets.
They use it to communicate with other coaches or staff members that are in the booth or on the sidelines. Usually an offense and/or defensive coordinator are up in the booth to get a better view of the field.
